Safeguarding Header

The Keswick House Nursery School is committed to safeguarding its pupils

and takes a rigorous approach to protecting the children in its care

Safeguarding is defined by the Department of Education in the following way:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment and neglect
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development
  • Ensuring children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care

All Keswick House Nursery School staff receive training to ensure they recognise any signs of maltreatment and will take appropriate steps if they have any such concerns. It is the responsibility of the school and its wider community to keep children safe from any kind of harm.

Parents with concerns about children are asked to contact the school. Please contact the Head of Pastoral Care and Safeguarding, Lisa Christou or deputy Gabriella Emery, on 0208 704 4857 or email:

Operation Encompass

Project Tearose, a process where partnered Wandsworth schools are informed by the Metropolitan Police about incidents in relation to domestic abuse is now Operation Encompass.
This joins Wandsworth schools with other London Boroughs. As with Tearose, Operation Encompass is the notification to schools that a child (under 18) has been exposed to/or involved in, any domestic incident. The notification is shared by the start of the next school day.
Operation Encompass will ensure that a specially trained member of the school staff, known as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), is informed.
The DSL can then use the information, in confidence, to ensure the well-being of the child.
